Irritating HVAC Popping sound.

These days I drive about with the radio off. It's how I roll bitches.

I've noticed the HVAC is making a repetitive sound every 3 -5 seconds, it is the sound of a vent being closed.

I have seen in the past on other similar systems that the code is pretty lazy on the fresh air vent, and it will try to close it every 3-5 seconds when set to closed, to ensure it is still closed. Normally you can choose a different setting for the fresh air/recirc to resolve it.

I can turn off the HVAC completely and the sound goes away. If I turn it back on it stays silent. It continues to make the sound is the compressor is on or off, or if recirc is Auto or On. If off, it makes a slightly different sound, but on the same 3-5 second cadence.

Is there any updated SW version HVAC controller (mine is a 2007 build) I can swap in, or a flap I can reseat or something that will stop this silly noise?

Thanks!

Heater valve

I have the same sound in my 2006. I was able to locate the heater valve under the hood drivers side, by the wheel well. It was real hot and makes a click sound every few sec. I believe this allows the coolant to go int the cab to regulate the heat. My heat still works so I not sure why it's clicking on then off, not sure it it's bad or the other controls or relays have an issue. Hope this helps
