New to BMW, should I buy or pass on this?

Hello guys, as stated above, I (hopefully) will be a new BMW owner soon. I work at a Dodge dealership and a customer traded in a 335i. I drove it for a few days and fell in love with it. I am asking you folks this because yall are the experts. The car has about 80,000 miles on it, I checked the carfax and it has 2 owners, 1st was a lease and 2nd bought it. Long story short, my manager wants to sell the car to be for about $14,200.

Quick run down
*80,000 miles
*2007 335i
*Took it home for about 4 nights and the 3rd day when i turned it on, it said "Engine Malfunction, reduced power" after that 1 time, hasn't come on....yet.
*$14,200
*My plan is to drive it for about 10,000 miles and sell it.

Yall are the experts, should i buy or pass?

well first you should beat the price down for the Malfunction light, and also take it to the BMW place and get the code read for the malfunction, and make your boss get it fixed or find out what it cost to fix and beat down the price for the amount of the repair, the problem could be a number of things, also get an extended warranty if you can

thats my opinion

You're saying participants in a public Internet forum are experts?

Well, to each his own. But let me say this about that: Your dealership will sell few cars displaying "Engine Malfunction, reduced power." Get that fixed; do a thorough pre-purchase inspection from a qualified BMW mech, and you might have something.

Note: 335i is extensively modifiable - there is much to be gained.
