Model choice decision question

Hi there! New member here, looking to get up to speed on these cars as I'm almost rteady to pull the trigger on a '06 E90 330i manual with 88K miles. I understand the E46 ran from 1999-2006 yes? If so, that would seem to me that there was a mid-year change into the E90 run? That being said, I've never really been a proponant of buying a 'first run' model of any car simply because of bugs that are sure to pop up.

My question I guess is should I be concerned with a clean, well maintained '06 as I mentioned? What are the issues, if any, to be cautious and aware of? Thanks for any and all replies

Dale

Very little to be concerned about with an E90 330i.

BMW introduces sedans and wagons first then coupes and 'verts a year or two later. The E46 sedan went from model year 1999 - 2005. Coupes and 'verts from model year 2000 - 2006. The E90 sedan was introduced in March 2005 as a 2006 model. The E90 2006 model year was about eighteen months.

You can check options and production date here with the last seven of the VIN - http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/

1st model year is less of an issue when the car's 8 years old than in the first 3-5 years imo.

I hate the 2006 body kit, or lack of one, but that 2006 3.0L motor is a gem, one of BMW's best ever.

Thanks guys for your input, it is good to get other perspectives! As fate has it, the 06 I was to look at on Sat has been sold. Somebody who had seen it least week decided to cast an offer to him... he took it. It was one gorgeous ride! Oh well... I'll keep looking

My first choice is the black/black 2006 330i. Though my first preference is a 6-speed manual, I did test drive an automatic this morning. I was pleasantly pleased! When internet searching for "Manual, black/black, 330i" results are spotty at best, unless I want to go 1,000+ miles away. Just not many BLACK/BLACK manuals out "there". The brushed aluminnum trim is a must as well as NO nav.

So I have located one that I may go see tomorrow, it is about 2hr away. Below is the VIN check and it seems to be decently appointed. One thing concerns me is, CarFax says it is a 3 owner car. First was a lease, 2yrs 8mos; 2nd was 2yrs 7mos; 3rd was 1yr 5mos. Hmmmm. I wonder IF there's 'something' about the car that won't let you get too attached?! Suggestions?
