2000 M Roadster tail lights

Hi guys, first post here but have been active on M3F since 07.

Recently picked up a 2000 M Roadster in Forest Green Metallic over black. Loving the car and doing a little sprucing up. Last night I added a new antenna with exterior grommet and the left rear tail light kicked my ass. I had to pull the lens twice because that crappy little Christmas light bulb on the pigtail wire kept falling out of the socket and into the lens. The contacts in the socket are very sloppy and won't hold the bulb despite manipulating them with a booger pick. No big deal... I called around this morning for a new pigtail and was told it's not available separately. Huh? 4 or 5 inches of wire with a LB socket on one end and two blade connectors on the other can't be had separately? BavAuto wanted $120 for the entire socket assembly which includes the pigtail. Is there anything special about that particular socket that can't found at a local auto parts store?

Thanks,

Steve Reay

Update: it's fixed.

No removable pigtail in there.... bulb socket has blade connectors. I poked at the terminals again with a scribe and bent the bulb wires back where they should be.

I bought a set of sockets from eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/T10-194-168-...9b6c5b&vxp=mtr

They are rubber and fit snuggly in the holes. I just crimped on spade connectors (pink ones that have plastic shields all the way to the end) to the pigtails and plugged them in.

Thank you! I think I'll pick those up.
