I believe the OP indicated that his/her build date was the end of November, meaning the parts are likely running out at some point following these recently completed builds and those about to go into production, but before the end of November. (Though it looks like the OP is now hearing their vehicle is back on track, so maybe they resolved the parts shortage issue, or at least located more to support builds a little further out than originally anticipated).

Obviously, they know how many parts they have (either on-hand or scheduled to arrive) and they know how many scheduled orders require those parts, so they can determine exactly when they will run out unless the supply inventory changes.

They don't have to wait until Fritz looks on the shelf and notices they don't have any cameras left...
Understood and agreed. I thought folks that were further along in the process were stating that their orders had been postponed due to the shortage, so I assumed that my later order would have to be as well, for the reasons you stated. Hence the confusion. But as some have described their own order's timing and progression, that has been different from my experience. Regardless, if I happen to be one of the lucky ones, I certainly cannot complain.

Shipment Update

My X5 completed assembly on Nov8, is in the paint shop and has a status code of 155. I'm surprised it has been at that status for 10 days. Does anyone have know how long it takes to go from code 155 to shipping?

Are you getting your information from a representative or the automated lady? When I ordered my 2011 x5, once production started, I had the vehicle in my possession within 2 weeks. I hope that info helps.

I heard from my dealer that my X5M Sport is delayed because of a shortage of tires. I have the 19" wheels.

That sucks. I found out mine should be complete on Nov. 26. I have the 20" wheels on a X5 35i.

Placed the order the sometime during the second half of October. The 800 number told me the estimated completion date.

X5 Has Arrived

The delay is over, I have my X5.

Its great.

X35i
Mineral White
Black Dakota Leather
Rear view camera
Roof rails in Aluminum Satin
Poplar Wood Trim
4-zone automatic climate control
Side and Top View Cameras
Harman Kardon surround sound system
BMW Apps
M Sport

The only add-on I purchased was the 7yr/100k power train extended warranty. I did this because I lost engines on a Land Cruiser at 77k miles (covered under an extended warranty) and a W8 Passat at 79k miles. We bought the W8 used and its warranty ran out at 75k miles. The cost of repair required a new engine (timing chain broke and tore up the engine) and it made more sense to sell it for parts. The dealer didn't approach us with any kind of offer so we will never buy another VW.

Congrats on your new vehicle! It is better to buy the extended warranty just before you are running out of the manufacturer 4/50 warranty. I believe that if your car is e.g. totaled, you won't get any refund.

Thumbs down Delayed X5 Delivery - Run around

Ordered X5 rather loaded - Bang sound - ceramic - etc etc - continued run around with asking for Production Date (placed order mid October). Hadn't gotten it yet. Checking today, etc etc. Finally confirmed this week - Dec 9th - that no vehicle before first of January due to some delay. Must be the 20" tires. No, can't be that, didn't order them. And on and on. The truth would be nice. Can deal with that better.

"
I am sorry to let you know that Bmw just sent out a “urgent” email.

The email read that any 2014 X5’s on order that have a variety of option’s including rear view camera’s are going to be delayed until January production due to a lack of camera’s.

So what this mean’s is that you are probably looking at a mid to late February delivery on the X5 I am guessing."

Anyone else having the same issue?
A quick update - my vehicle is currently on its way to the dealer....delivery planned for Monday

cancelled my order

Placed an order early November 2013 with a deposit from Santa Barbara BMW, cancelled 11 weeks later. We could not get a production order confirmation from BMW North America. Multiple emails and phone calls confirm that everybody at BMW seems sorry, they just can't seem to build any 2014 X5s right now. Good Luck and or test drive a Cayenne.

Hello everyone... I have been trying to place an order for the new x5 50 through the dealer in Dubai since December 2013 and I have been informed that no production before april, therefore I won't get delivery before june.
By the way... prices here are about $45, 000 more than those in the states. Crazy.. a loaded x5 50 would cost about $120, 000

It is not that bad with the Dubai taxes / salaries. X5 50i starts at $110k.

A question for those who got the B&O audio system.. is it worth the money! Its about $6k option. Really confused whether to order it or just get the $1, 500 Harman Kardon

Production delays

I ordered my X5 Dec15 with $30k down and was told it would be 6-8 weeks. I heard nothing about delays from my SA and finally called the sales mgr to ask about the delay this week. She said I should see my car March 15. If I had known it would be 3 months I would have gone with another vehicle. So far not impressed with BMW but the manager is giving me a 5 series loaner until mine arrives. She feels bad about it but I think the SA or BMW ought to have had the courtesy to give me a call. Hope I didn't make a mistake leaving Mercedes.

Poor service on the CA's part, but thumbs up to the manager who provided you a no cost loaner.
