What does jb4 or jb2 do?

What does that do? I know it gives a bmw hp but is it illegal? Does it void warranty? Does it mess something up in the long run? If anyone can help thank you !! By the way I just bought a 335i coupe 2008 automatic! Sport and premium !! Thanks

JB2 is obsolete JB4/ISO is current. Violates Fed law driven on the street, will void warranty if it contributes to a fail. Its the only way to go it you want good power with minimum investment.

Do a search on JB4 huge amount of info here.

Not only is it illegal, but it may tempt you to do illegal things if you have no intent to track your car!

I think that any performance mods are illegal now-a-days, as emissions standards are so strict. That being said, I doubt that a modded 335 runs very dirty compared to a legal Powerstroke diesel, so you will have to let your conscience decide.
JB4 can be turned on and off using steering wheel controls in seconds, so you can choose to only run it when you feel the need. As Bear said, search, and read, then decide.

This is illegal:

And I never see these guys get pulled over for their illegal straight-pipes:

I think that you would have to be bolt-on before you would get in trouble!

The JB4 is a laxative.

Case in point. Yesterday I installed one onto my 335i. The JB4 increased my boost pressure. The increased boost pressure found the BOV that I had failed to properly secure, and popped it out of its socket. This in turn caused the vehicle to make a sound akin to a spun crank bearing. This in turn had a strong laxative effect on the driver, who thought he had just fragged his motor.

Frederic

P.S. The JB4 is also good for detaching retinas.

Thanks guys for your help!! Even though the 335i is the fastest car I've ever owned, I felt like a bit more speed/power wouldn't hurt but by the looks of things it can be a risk at times as well.

JB4 increases torque by increasing boost....it is its own reward, yielding ear to ear smiles....

Standard warning/rant: When you increase power you magnify 335i's suspension deficiencies. To discover what those are, test drive M3. Same car, suspension [and differential] issues resolved. Engine different of course, but that's not the point of this exercise. You'll feel the diff instantly - I mean that - moving in the parking lot. Go around a corner - you're hooked!

You can have what M3 has - just add cash. M3 parts & 3rd party enhancements readily available.

You always go on this 'buy M3 suspension' rant, and you're wearing me down. I'm poor however, so I can buy the parts, put you up, and feed you, should you desire to do the install!

Test drove a couple of Porsche Boxer "S" cars (6MT/PDK) the weekend before last. Lot better choice than upgrading the 335 suspension.

Boxster & 911 have better characteristics than any BMW I've driven....admirable! Especially like 911's civility.

That said, I wouldn't take Boxster on a trip of any length....

Just when CW has me leaning towards, at the very least, new springs and shocks, you have to go all practical on me!

Yeah, I tend to be pragmatic.
