High beam way too high

HI All,
Ever since I have had my car the high beam seem to way too high, low beam ok. I can see it when I am next to trees and mountains that it shines way up onto them while it barely makes a difference as far as lighting up the road. I am wondering is that is the way it supposed to be?

No. And do you have the adaptive bi-xenon headlights? If not, what headlight set-up do you have...and do you know if anyone has ever adjusted them or realigned them?

How to adjust Xenon headlamps: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ing-level.html

Well I bought it when it was 2 years old. No one have adjusted them while I have had it.
I do have the adaptive xenons..
I'll take a look at the adjustment procedure...
Thanks!

Since you have the adaptive bi-xenon...this means that not only do you have the left/right movement...you also have a switch that moves them up/down...the headlight vertical aim control sensor.

If you've recently raised the vehicle off the ground, sometimes the lever on the leveling switch can get flipped and it moves the headlight the wrong way. Or the leveling switch may be broken.

I think the leveling switch is attached to the front left axle...and there's a short strut that attaches it to the suspension...which allows the headlamp to move up/down.

Since I don't know which suspension you have (regular/single axle/ dual axle) I'll refrain from posting a diagram of the leveling switch...but you can do a search for this info...it's similar amoung the e38/e39/e53...if you find a DIY for one...the basics will be the same.

Good luck.
