iDrive Retrofit

I'm thinking about getting this retrofit done to my 07 328i http://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw-...ation-retrofit
When buying my 328 i didn't realize how much i was going to want idrive. Is it worth that price tag?

I believe that is for people that already have idrive.

I believe that is for people that already have idrive.
It just updates the navigation module.
From what I understand doing a whole idrive retrofit would run 3 to 5 k
in parts alone.

If no Idrive...you need a whole new dashboard at the minimum

iDrive Retrofit

There was a good writeup of someone who actually did it. There is tons of wiring required and other parts than the ones listed (eg air conditioner panel) that will, as mentioned, run up the bill further.

Edit: I just realized ctuna posted the link to it above.

What about idrive do you want?

What about idrive do you want?
It looks like it would cost you North of 5 k to have it put in.
You could get a aftermarket head unit and amps and speakers
for probably about half of what you would spend on idrive and it
would be better stuff with more functions.

That's about right. Even when we take my e92, we still use the iPhone instead of iDrive.

It would be a lot cheaper and easier to sell the car and buy a similar car with iDrive.

This is why you decide exactly what is important to you before buying a car. The 09+ iDrive is awesome btw, not sure why the people above without it are complaining.

This or trade your car for one with Nav - retrofitting from no nav to nav is not worth doing cost wise!

It would be easier to relocate your current, factory HU to the trunk and install an aftermarket unit. Not only will this be much cheaper, you will probably have loads more functionality from an aftermarket HU.

You don't have to relocate the HU to the trunk but if you don't you lose all chimes (for seatbelt, warnings, etc). You will also need to reinstall the HU if you ever need a software update for your car.

I guess I'm just going to go with the after market HU. Is the Dynavin HU the best option when it comes to after market HU

In terms of ease of retrofitting, it's plug and play

In terms of quality and functionality, I heard its garbage. I've never personally used one so I can't speak from experience. I've read a few bad reviews though.
