We're not your library researcher. Look above at the "Where's the, What's this, Can I, Will this, How do I ... SEARCH!" thread. Then if you have SPECIFIC questions after reading that thread and the subjects it references, then come back.

Totally unreliable -- just search here, Google, Bing, E90POSt, and N54TECH!!

Good Lord. Buy a Lexus.

But if you must, 2009+ preferred. Whatever you do, DO NOT MODIFY THIS MODEL! YOU RISK ALL!!!

Floydarogers, Thanks. My first post. I asked a directed question to a group of experts. So much for starting a conversation, will do the research.

335i

Don't buy a 2009. If you're set on a 335i, the general rule is the same as with all cars.

Buy the newest, lowest mileage car you can afford.

Still, the 335i scares me and the problems it's associated with shouldn't be taken lightly.

Search N54 HPFP issues. It should help you understand a bit more!

With great reward there is always risk.
The 335 has bitten some people, others have had good luck.

I think the 335 is the perfect car for someone who has a basic understanding of cars in general, the ability to take care of the basic things and maybe a few more than basic things here and there. If you are car "dumb" and are always at the mercy of a repair shop I don't think this is the right car for you.

Outside of that, its the usual: age, mileage, condition and owner history.

Yes.....yesssss.....we are humbled.

You'll soon find BMW boards somewhat Wac-o, especially with questions already asked, discussed, and pounded out a zillion times. So, the point is: Your best result lies in SEARCH, a dandy capability available on/in most boards.

As far as Google and Bing are concerned....well....they are their own reward.

Lexus has its demons and AH service advisers too

talked to a guy yesterday with a lexus, he had a thumping sound in the rear over the shock tower, took it to the dealer and after 2 days in the shop they said it was body flex and case is closed
so dont think BMW is the only one with problems

Eh, my car (an '07) has had its share of issues, mostly fuel-system-related. Owned it from zero miles until now (~74k miles).
Wouldn't trade it for anything, really. So much fun, so much power, so much....most everything a driver wants, really.

you best purchase an extended warranty with any BMW you buy, dont mess with it, adding stuff, you will be asking for trouble, dont waste your money on upgrading the stereo. Save all your money for repairs, Unless you purchase a brand new one with a warranty, YOU WILL be spending money on it to keep it running.
