Increased battery discharge warning

Go to turn on my car in this ridiculous cold weather were having here in Jersey and I get an increased battery discharge warning that pops up. Two things that are currently running through my mind: is my battery going dead or does it need to be charged? I made an appointment at my dealership when I go home this weekend but trying to see if this is a possible weather factor or the battery is actually going.

Not to panic. Have you ever heard of a battery tender? Do you drive a lot of short trips? I do a 10 minute drive to and from work and split drive between 2 different vehicles. About once a week, i do an overnight charge on the battery tender and get the voltage back up to about 12.6 VDC. One more, do you have a multimeter? this last one is an essential for a multitude of uses, automotive, household, checking portable batteries, on and on. Tell us your voltage reading from the under hood terminals. Good luck

Since I live at school I don't have access to one. Yes, I have one but can't use it currently. I'm driving back home tomorrow but will be going into the dealership on Saturday with warranty. Maybe the drive back will help recharge the battery as I don't do much driving down here. I'm also taking trips this weekend out of state so maybe that will help.

Starting this thread back up. Having the same problem again that I had back in late November, early December. Getting two warnings now: Increased Battery Discharge and Battery Level Low. The problem the last time was that there was a short in the system: completely understandable. BMW fixed the short and there wasn't anything drawing unnecessary power from the battery until now when I got the warnings. Yes, it was kept on a tender every so often.

I'm hoping it's not another short, and I can only hope I will get a new battery under warranty.

Thanks CAL. Voltage levels were way too low and the dealer replaced the battery under warranty.
