7 years ago I performed the dumbest MOD of all time...I installed a RCA( L + R) cable onto the tape deck wiring. It was such a trend I had to do it right? That f-in mod was retarded...Sure I can play my Ipod or mp3 device but the Volume was so frkn low u could barely hear it...If u have installed a aftermarket 500 amp like I did, the amp would be working harder than it should...What was the domino effect???/ Killing the water cooled alternator($600 and $200 labor).. Pissed me off... Ya I was n00b mech back in 2007 so I had a German shop install it....so "
what I did I do to my 7 today"? I finally remove the stupid cable and reconnected the tape deck wiring... I have a MONSTER Cassette AUX kit. I simply remove the 16:9 nav exterior trim , insert the casette , rout wire plug on side and reinstall the NAV outer trim( if yo dont remove the trim the NAV Door screen wont close all the way because of the thick cable of the plug will stop it)... Connect plug end to my I Phone and play Pandora app... Great sweet DSP music with normal volume settings back again......

All new stuff in the front end. Links, joints, etc.

Now starting on the driver door lock actuator.

And what is up with the broken springs on the door stop/brake?

Three of the four are broken. Sheared in two. Gee, that wasn't an overstressed part from the factory now was it?

My gut was right... My osv that never made a noise before is howling now... Dag Nabbit.. I clipped in on and now if I pull on it slightly I get a howl.. I guess I can just not pull on it..

Today I pulled the headliner on the '98 because I need to swap out the sunroof which is busted. I'll tackle the rest of it at another time; I need to source material for my headliner while I have it out.

Been a while since anyone has posted here so I am going to share what happened to me yesterday. I jumped in my car to move it and once I turned the key everything died. I mean everything all power shut down it was really freaky. I popped the hood to look for any blown fuses nope. I looked in the trunk next started wiggling the battery wires and blamo full power. After limping the car home which was scary kept trying to shut down and I was way down on power. I cleaned the battery terminals with coke and inside the power distribution box with the same. There was corrosion in the box not really on the battery but both are clean and tightened down. Now the car is acting fine. Crazy huh? Just another day in the e38 :-)
P.S. The weirdest thing has been happening?? Everyday now since Tuesday I have been getting amazing compliments from previous 7 series owners, friends, and people who liked the e38 since the beginning. I think I have really cleaned this car up and made it shine. It is really nice though. I am used to my cars getting compliments Mustang, Tiburon. But once I got rid of the Mustang it has been 6 months with no compliments. Now the compliments are back! And I still have some work to do that will really turn heads. I can't wait!

Standard rear tinting of windows, replaced hood poppers, sprayed rear deck black again (sure beats the faded purple look) and upgraded rear lights from plastic to metal and woodgrain ones.
