Dealer quote on Intake Cleaning

I think this is a good price, especially from the dealer, but my SA told me $595.00 for a Walnut Blast on intake valves. I'm at 45K. He said recommended is 60-70k. Car starts, idles great, seems to run great (could be diminishing without me realizing though). Question is should I wait until it's noticeably affecting performance or do as preventative now?

That is the best dealer price I've seen. Around here, it's in the $850 - $950 range for dealers, $500 for an indy.

I waited until 90k on mine, and that was too long. I had noticeable hesitation and stuttering by the time I pulled the trigger. FWIW, my plan is to do it every 50k.

I believe my SA really tries to hook me up. $600.00 from the dealer and I get that little extra assurance. I think I will get it done at 50K. I also am going to do my own tranny and coolant flush and fill at that mileage. I have the money now and am afraid I will spend it elsewhere on stuff I don't need anyway. The dealer I take it to is Shelly BMW in Buena Park, Ca. They haven't pushed back on anything I asked for and almost always give me a new loaner car.
Cal, I wish I had the extra space, time, and money to buy my own stuff to do the job. I sure would. For this one, I think I'll just suck it up and plan on DIYing everything else I can as uaual (btw...still no squealing rear, right brake despite my ear expecting to hear it by now, and hardly any brake dust!)

What OC dealer? You might be able to drive some business over there if they're doing right by their customers.

Shop I work for charges $349. Never go to the dealer for this service. Find an Indy that can.
