Has any one experienced problems with the Comfort Access system not responding at times?

Even while i am in the car it sometimes does not recognize the fab. It has new batteries in it??

It could be a car battery issue as the average life seems to be about 5 years. Try setting your ignition to on ("Radio Readiness" in BMW speak) and turning on the radio. If a "Low Battery" warning comes up within 2 or 3 minutes, your battery may need be replaced.

Thanks Tom, the car battery was installed by BMW 4 months ago. I don't suspect it at this time.

Unless you got a bad batch of key batteries (I won't even ask if the polarity is OK as you say the problem is intermittent), it sounds like the CA unit in the car doesn't always communicate properly with the fob. BTW, does the other fob have the same issues?

If so, it sounds like a trip to your dealer or indy is in order.

Good luck in sorting it out.

Are you asking us or telling us? Is the new "batteries" the car battery you mentioned having been replaced four months ago? Or the key FOB "batteries"?

Aha. Fob in your pocket? Move those other things outta the way. Metal keys especially good at blocking signal.

Does it work if, say, you lay it on the console?

Thanks for all of the ideas, indeed the key fab battery was new and had 2 or so more years before the expiration date. I decided to buy an new key fab battery from Radio Shack and had no problems since. It pays to buy from a reputable store.
