ENgine Malfunction Reduced Power and Service Engine Soon

I received the engine malfunction reduced power light on my 2011 335i MSport. however, I did not foresee any signs/warning before the light, which baffles me. I contacted the dealership and inquired if it is safe to drive so many miles with this light. After driving maybe 15 miles to the dealership, I heard a little rattle (thinking) while at the stop sign but that was it.... The dealership change cylinders would resolve the issue. Unfortunately, no and car is still being inspected and tested. Not sure for how long.
