Tinting and heat

I drive my new 3 series and I sweat like a pig. The windows have zero tint. Is that the reason? My last 3 or 4 cars had some tint and they were not as hot.

It has been in the 20s and 30s lately, but the car has been super hot inside.

If I need some tint, how much do I need? What do I tell the tint guy? Which windows?

I'd appreciate any help.

Some mftrs have specs listed for their products. Here's Llumar for instance. The closest thing here would be Total Solar Rejection, but too bad it's not specifically IR. You will also see that darkness has very little to do with rejection when superior techs like ceramics are included. The catch is the price.

As for how much, well the more windows you tint, the cooler it should remain. This includes the windshield, though illegal in most states. Many in my state do so, but understandably many people have issue with this. The rear windshield also presents an issue as the defroster lines look a bit more distorted there compared to nothing, and for the coupes, there will be some bubbling due to the dot matrix. Some people vinyl that out black completely, it doesn't bother me one bit and I have a pretty good looking car. Hope that helps. Oh, be wary of metallic tint as that can screw with some signals, as an aside they generally have higher reflectivity. I personally use Air Blue 80.
