Frozen Gas Line

It was -30 degrees here a couple of weeks ago and I made the mistake of filling up a near empty gas tank and not using gas line anti-freeze. My 2013 X3 drove fine for a while but after a quick stop it would not start. The engine stuttered from fuel starvation then would not start at all. I put in a bottle of gas line anti-freeze and let it sit for a couple of hours. After that it started fine and has ran fine ever since.
After that happened I noticed 2 things - the Engine light was on for a couple of days, but it eventually went out. The one lingering issue is that when I start the X3 now instead of the dash displaying "Service Due in 6000 km.", which it did before, it now says "Service due since 17,000 km." The X3 has 18,000 Km on it. Does anyone know the procedure to reset the service advice display?

You need a laptop and the BMW software to reset the service reminder, the KM on the service reminder is active, meaning it will change according to your driving habit.

I saw a BMW service technician reset the display on my X3 last summer and he did it by pressing a combination of buttons on the steering wheel and turn signal stalk so there is a programming mode that can be accessed without a laptop. Just wondering if anyone knows what that is?
