Update on Hotspot LTE

Has anyone heard when the Hotspot LTE adapter for in car wi if will be available in the US? The BMW website has details but there are none at BMW USA. My sales rep have never heard if it.. I am wondering if I should even bother getting Satellite set up in my non premium package new X3.

Thanks!

I think it is available now? It was offered to me when I took delivery in April, but they said that it wouldn't actually be delivered to me until July. Why would you want it though? It cost $1000, and that doesn't include the data subscription cost. You talked about satellite (sirius?) so my guess is that you are wanting music. Well, even with a hot spot you still need a phone as the interface to the vehicle, running pandora, etc, so why not just use your phone and the built-in data connection it has? If you really wanted in-vehicle Wifi I think every carrier out there sells a dedicated hotspot for like 50 bucks.

I went one step further, and offer wifi to my passengers from my phone that I have set up to turn itself into a Wifi hotspot when it detects that it is plugged into the car cradle in the center console.
