Window tint

Hi all,

I'm considering tinting my front side windows to match the privacy glass. Has anyone done this? What kind of film would you use?

Also did you do it at a shop? or it is easy to DIY? thanks!

You have to find out what is legal in your state first of all. Usually there is some sort of spec that tells you what the max tint is. Sometimes in the form of a percentage of light allowed. Myself, I would not add anything.

thanks for the reminder. I checked the limit is 35%. I'm going for a more sporty look, although 35% is not dark enough for me, but at the moment I just wanted to see how it looks after I match the front side window with privacy glass. I understand there's matching issues when I put on certain type of film. Any thoughts on choices of films?

Not sure in the Us market but in my country it is well know, the best and the most expensive for a car. Around 600 USD for a SUV. This is my third car going with it.

Wow that's pretty expensive. I called a local tint shop earlier today, they charge 100 buck for the two front side windows. They use a carbon film with brand name Global Film. Anyone has experience with this brand? also how much is a reasonable price to pay a shop to do it?

I used Pinnacle F1 ceramic tint. Put on 30 in front and layered 40 in the rear over the privacy glass. It's pretty even.

Call your local dealer for Vkool, it is worth every penny. May be in the US, the price is not that high. How many % of Total Solar Energy Rejection of Global film? if your car have Vkool, while driving, your arm lean on side windows, the heat will not bother you at all. I go with VK 30 and font window vk 70 (no reflection).

no,s orry I wrote it in a misleading way. Paid a local shop to do it, as there is a lifetime warranty on this. It was roughly $350 (probably cheaper for you Americans)
