Did you bleed the air from the system when you refilled with coolant?

This. ^^

Sounds like your pump is fine. The lower hose should be cooler as the coolant has run through the radiator and is sucking back into the engine. It's the coolest point of the circuit.

Wiki has bleed procedure in the cooling section. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...05#post8014505

Check the level manually a few times over the next few days and adjust as needed. Do NOT overfill it or something will rupture. You'd be surprised how many people get it wrong.... do it the right way and you'll have no problems.

Read about the proper way to bleed, and repeat several times over a few cycles.

+1

This most likely the cause. What coolant did you use btw?

Is this typical? Like if I fill properly, and drive and the coolant light comes on and goes back off, but no overheating, is this just kinda the system working out air pockets? and repeating this a time or two is this normal?

It's usually not necessary if its done right the first time. But may be necessary if a large amount of air is introduced without a complete drain n fill. If you have an intermittent light it's probably just a little low. Check on a cold engine.

Re: Water Pump HELP!!

I'm betting the op didn't have the heat on full blast. Without doing that it won't get the air out of the heater core while bleeding.
