Help E46 2001

Hi

When driving and the car gets warm, the dash beeps and displays -40.00'C, what does that mean?

Where can I find an air mass sensor @ a good price?

1.) Ambient air temp sensor is broken or disconnected.

2.) You don't say what E46 you have. If that's a 325, the Hyundai MAF sensor (VDO) is the best deal. Or just furiousmethod.com it.

It does not affects performance. Usually in bottom plastic shield in front of drivers tire.

Mine was missing as well, just 2 wires hanging down in that area, I bought a new one but haven't installed it. What is it for? Everything seems normal with it missing.

Help E46 2001

I have a 03 325ci and my sensor was gone when I bought my car. As far as I can tell it helps with the auto air conditioning system. On my car once it got wet and started reading -40 degrees it would shut my a/c off... All I did was cut the wire and taped it up really good to stop the annoying warning lol

Yeah the sensor can affect a/c performance to clarify earlier comment. Sometimes taping the wires doesn't work.

Here is both a close up of the sensor, and a pic of the underbody of the car with the sensor location showing at the upper right-hand corner of the pic.

Tells you the outside temperature. It beeps to warn you it's cold...possible icy conditions. Mine beeped last week. It showed 39 degrees...in Phoenix!
