E90 335i window problem, please

E90 335i window problem, please help.

Hello, i am new to this recently purchased a 2007 335i, today found out that my both rear windows when on auto down would not come back up. When pushing the switch to pull window up you can hear the motor trying to push up the window but it does not work. When taking apart the door to check out the issue, regulator seemed ok, no cables loose, also when pushing the switch up and giving a little lift help with hand window comes right up. Any ideas what could be wrong? Is it a safety issue? Regulator or motor, window does not seem to be off track. Thanks in advance for all help!

I had a similar problem on an e46. i disconnected the battery for about an hour while I was trying to swap general control modules with a friend. The numbers didn't match so we decided not to go ahead because of possible coding issues. But when we reconnected the battery the problem went away. I took it to a BMW dealer. The mechanic couldn't reproduce the problem. But he said that disconnecting the battery was like a hard reset on a computer and probably corrected a software problem. A slightly different issue in my e92 required a new general control module under warranty. It's easy to replace, but you have to code it. BMW doesn't use trip switches on the windows. They use regulator motor power draw to measure the top and bottom of the window movement. IF you replaced the motor, which I think you can do without replacing the whole mechanism, and that doesn't fix problem, try disconnecting the batter for a while. The next place to look is the general control module.
