Won't shift out right?

I have an 03 325ci and when I'm driving my car, cruising at any speed the rpms drop an go back up about 300-500 at a time?
Also when I go to pass a car, or just want to go fast lol my car will build up rpms but it won't shift out unless I let out of the throttle some.
I've been told possibly the speed shift sensor but I'm lot sure... Any ideas

The last time I had those symptoms it was the fuel pump. How many miles, and is yours still original?

I'd start by checking trans fluid level. If it's never been changed then you might be SOL. I'm not an auto trans expert but word is that at your mileage changing original "lifetime" fluid can either save it or kill it for good. You may have reached the end of life of the lifetime fluid and that of the transmission as well.

I've checked the trans fluid it's not low or anything doesn't smell burnt and it's not black. I've been told it was the speed shift sensor or the carburetor module or something like that can't remember the name.
