524td fuel filter light

Hey guys,

I have a 1985 524td and the fuel filter light in the overhead display is on despite recently changing the fuel filter and ensuring proper connections on all sensors. The car runs perfectly and I notice no change in performance. Does anyone know what triggers this light? I was wondering if it was just like oil change light indicating the car is due for a filter change based on time elapsed since previous.....thanks

My guess is that you need a code reader/reset tool to turn the light off. There may also be a way to do that by jumping some terminals in the diagnostic connector. Have you tried going to http://524td.com/? There may be some useful info or links on that website
