Bmw e93 dpf warning - please help!!

Hi everyone,

Bmw 325d 3.0 diesel e93, yesterday message on idrive showed,
Particulate Filter
"Possible to continue journey. Possible reduction in engine power. Have the problem checked by your BMW Service"

I noticed after 15 minutes on a cold start, the message pops on idrive and stays as a warning on dash.

can anyone tell me what to do now please?

Thanks

Google, and/or replace the filter?

You will need a dealer or good indy, they can run diagnostics to regenerate the particulate filter (basically force burnoff the soot), if it is too far blocked, then they may need to clean manually or replace.

i've seen plenty of posts but im still not sure and quite frustrated because the cheapest quote i have seen online is 1200 for parts alone from BMW, some say the total costs will be between 1500 - 2000.

i dont really want to go to the dealer as their prices will be too much especially for the DPF, unless they charge me a fee for the force regeneration only, i will confirm it with them on saturday.

i can take it to local garage but i dont think they have much knowledge on how to do regen, will that be done as soon as they remove the fault code?

i've read on forum that some people have been able to force regen themselves by going on motorway in manual mode 4th gear or DS mode at around 60MPH for about 15 miinutes,

and some people have used forte DPF cleaner to solve the problem.

however some have had no success with these 2 options and they have ended up getting DPF removed.

shall i get it cleaned by local garage and then take it for a run on motorway with high rev?
how will i know that regeneration has kicked in?
thanks

sorry for the long message lol
