Front License Plate for 09 328i Best Ideas?

Hello Pulled over today and told it was State Law to have License Plate on the front. It sooo looks like the car never had any design for it. I don't want to mess it up. What is available and how have others dealt with this? Thank in advance

so where do you live and when you got tags for the car did they provide you 2, one for the front and one for the back? if the car is registered in another state, how can the state you are driving in say you need 2 when the state its registered in says you only need one

be nice to the F-N officer and tell him that in the state in which your car is registered, that they only require a plate on the rear of the car. Any you have no intentions of moving into the state so his law doesn't apply to you!!!

and you really could have been a smart ass and said "but officier if I take the tag off the back and put it on the front I wont have one on the back, and besides they only gave me one plate, assuming they only gave you one plate

Thank you for response. Yes they gave me 2 plates and I have look around and notice that few BMW like mine have front plates. Officer was cool, no ticket, and we looked at the bumper together and he really didn't know how it was to be either... Just throwing it out to the forum as surely someone knows. Off to dealership this weekend to ask as well.

They make a front bracket. I have one that I just took off that had a dealer plate on the front. (Why do they do that?) It leaves holes where it screws into the bumper. Used a Euro plate to cover it up.

You can also get a license plate mount that screws into the tow hook. I have the standard one from http://www.usmillworks.com/ on another car (learning from the mistake of having my E90 bumper drilled for the front plate) and it works well. Only downside with this option is the plate isn't centered.

The dealership drills into the bumper to attach a bracket. Then the plate is attached to the bracket.

You can get tow hook plate holders.

My car is registered in NJ and I don't have a front plate. I rarely get pulled over but that is the only illegal thing on the exterior of my car. I don't have tints

I found a link somewhere (found it, see below) that described how to make a bracket from parts from Lowe's for about $5 that allows you to bolt your plate to a tow hook... I built one, and picked up a spare tow hook from a junk yard... Keep the plate with tow hook attached in my trunk... Install as necessary (state inspection).

I put the plate on as designed and don't obsess about it. When state law says the plate is needed, install it and go on with life. I've NEVER understood why this is a big deal.
