how to reset service reminder

Had my x3 in for its first oil change at 5000 miles. its a 2012. The dealer did not reset the computer because of the low mileage. However now its says service is due because 2 years went by. How do I reset the service due reminder without going back to the dealer.
Thanks in advance

You can find a few videos on YouTube that will tell you how. But, why not get it serviced? Two years is a long time regardless of the mileage. It doesn't cost anything assuming warranty is still in force.

I just had it serviced in November. the dash said service in 12000 miles or 12/2013. I brought it in for service and they did the oil and filter, wiper blades. he said he didn't reset the service reminder because they will send me a notice when the next service is due since I didn't put much mileage on the car. So December comes and goes, now its Jan. and it says service is due. I called the dealer and they said come by and they will reset it. Not a big deal I figured if it was easy enough I would do it myself.

It's pretty easy to reset it, but I would advise against this as you are defeating the free service you have available.

BMW policy is to change the oil when the computer says so AND once a year if your vehicle does annual low milage. BMW will absolutely cover another HIGHLY recommended oil change.

Like I said before, the dealer changed the oil and filter but did not reset it. saw the clip, it was easy to reset, don't know why the dealer didn't do it, but anyway its reset for another year or 12000 miles. That's for the help

I had my car since Feb 2013 and I have done 9800km. It used to remind me service is due according to the mileage difference of 12000km less what I have done to the nearest thousand or 2/2014, whichever comes first. Now the reminder shows 2000km or 2/2015. Wonder why the year has advanced itself. No big problem, will just note that to BMW service.
