E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

Weird happenings with my 135i

I Have a 2008 135i which I bought new and have recently noticed some strange things going on. It has always made a humming sound when the remote fob is used to, for example, open the trunk and I assumed that is normal--perhaps waking up the computer (?). Several weeks ago my wife noticed that it was making a similar sound while sitting in the garage, undisturbed for at least several hours. I opened and shut the door and the sound stopped.

Then, yesterday I opened the car by simply pulling the handle since it wasn't locked and the radio came on along with the dash lights just as if the key had been inserted--which it wasn't. I tried to see if it would also start by pushing the start button and it did not (I believe I had the clutch in since it's a stick). I shut the door and went into the house and when I returned later (not sure how long) the radio was off.

Sounds like something may be going bonkers with the computer---any suggestions as to what is going on and whether it is a predictor of more serious things yet to come!!!

Guys, the 135i has a battery recall. I have a 2009 135i and I had to take mine to bmw. They replaced all the wiring.

Needs to be re-connected to the Mothership for updating. Failing that, a brain transplant.

Sorry to be not only unhelpful but also snide; I couldn't help myself. Used to be a car would break, you take it in and get it fixed with some sort of new knuckle, bushing, or similar mechanical trouble. Nowadays they go haywire, some bug in a line of code somewhere.

Mehh, I say, MEEEHH!!
