about to buy 2007 335i sedan - warranty?

I'm about to buy a 2007 335i, sport and premium packages, the right colour and fixings etc. The car currently has 60,000 km (about 37,000 miles) and asking low $20,000CAN (thats about low $18,000US). It has a week of its original warranty left which means I get a "deal" on an extended warranty. The deal is 3 years/200,000km for $3000.

The history looks clean, other than regular maintenance every 10,000 miles, it's had the Fuel pump replaced, cylinder head cover and gasket replaced due to crankcase venting malfunction, gearbox sealing sleeve replaced.

My question, would I really spend $3000 worth of repair in the next three years? I don't drive much, will probably put on at most 10,000 miles/yr, and am not 18 years old.

My gut says to not bother with the extended warranty, I don't believe I will spend that much on repairs given my situation, but everyone on these forums harps on about getting the extended warranty. Am I out of my mind?

I think there are plenty of posts on this topic. I am probably going to buy my car at lease end.. basically now. I am planning to have it certified just to get the additional 2 years warranty. I don't really want to have this car out of warranty. Too expensive to repair things that could easily go wrong. Now if you plan to have an extra $5k laying around just for unplanned repairs, then I would say no to the warranty and maybe you'll luck out.

I feel like we're on the same predicament. I just a 328i 08 42k miles.

I bought the extended warranty. But I feel like i should pay $98 to inspect the car, then decide if i really should keep it. IF they come back and say, hey the belt is looking thin. Then ill keep it. If they say the majority major belts have been changed, then i may drop it. But least for $98 ill comfort to know what has been changed and what hasnt.
