Is this normal?

hi,
I'm first time bimmer owner. currently i purchased 2011 cpo 328i coupe only hits 12k.

while i drove 15-20 miles and noticed that oil temperature gauge strangely move around 250 and little go down and up but i doesn't go over 250 which will be overheated. is this normal?

I used to drive mini cooper and vw cc and i haven't experienced such thing.

one more thing i noticed that was idle problem. while car is parked and turn steering wheel little and rpm goes little down and back to normal. i saw some more situation regarding idle problem while i was driving. I don't know if it's normal or not.. i need you guys opinion.
i do have 3 years extended free maintenance. do i have to get service?

Sounds like everything is fine to me.

250 on the oil is fine.
Turning your wheel at idle puts load on the engine so a slightly dipping idle would be normal.

Agreed, your power steering pump is ran off the engine via belt.

Too much information

None of my cars have an oil temp gauge ..... problem solved.

Oh, and never turn your steering wheel unless the car is rolling forward or in reverse ......saves wear on the tires and strain on the ps.

if you are worried Burger motorsports sells lower temp oil thermostats and its easy to replace

I took the spring out and heated up about 3 coils with my torch till red hot, let it cool and put it back in and the temp runs about 10 degrees lower now
