E63 / E64 6 Series (2004 - 2010)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

Tilt Telescope Doesnt Work

Car: 2006 650i Convertible

Issue: the tilt/telescope switch on the steering column doesn't do anything. BUT I know for sure the tilt motor works because it goes up and down for convenience access. Also the seats adjust perfectly fine and the heated steering wheel next to the adjustment switch also works fine.

Things I've done:

1. checked fuses in trunk - 70, 71, 86, all good. the fuse diagram with icons is really hard to decipher so maybe there are others that control the switch?
2. took apart the seat control memory switch (the one on the side of the drivers seat near the door), there was only one plug, it was fine, and it works fine, as does the memory function.

What am I missing? Please help!

Hi! I had a similar problem when I first bought my car, the steering wheel would tilt but not go up or down (telescopic), They had to replace the steering column thankfully it was under warranty, very expensive repair. The main thing was that before the failure it was at the correct length, so if it had failed it was still comfortable to drive......I probably would have left it if it was my own money.... You could to see if the switch is working on the column......
I am not sure but there may have been a technical bulletin???

Always said I would go back to a 6 series
