Is it okay to use Mobil 1 10w - 30 Synthetic. on a 2001 3.0 X5

I just had my oil change on my x5 3.0, 2001

My question Is.
Is it okay to use Mobil 1 10w - 30 Synthetic.

Well this question came up as i was reading the owner's Manual AFTER i made the oil change.

It says 5w 40 or 5w 30

I live in NYC....it is okay to used the 10w-30 as the oil place did when changing my oil.

The 5W gives slightly better startup flow, but your motor will be fine; it's not exactly Jan/Feb there, yet.

The 30 suffix,(vs. 40), is simply chasing v.slight potential improvement on mpg in a theoretical manner.
I wouldn't give it a 2nd thought, espc. on '01.

I run the 5W-30 when the stlr does it for "free"; in all my DIY changes I use 5W-50.
With the qual of oils these days, they all do a remarkable job.
