Air Suspension problems

my right rear Air Shock collapses when it gets real cold and the car looks like it has a flat and the battery is getting drained.
Has anyone else had problems with their air shocks?

I had issue with my right rear shock. Car would always be about 1/2" lower on that side. It wasn't until I took photos after car was not driven for 2 weeks, showing a 3" drop, that the dealer took it seriously and wanted to tear down the suspension.
The issue can be the shock itself or the air lines supplying the shock or the auto leveler control module
This happened 2 months after the original warranty expired. It was finally decided that the shock was failing. And, guess what....CPO warranty does not cover the shock itself, only the controller and air lines. Since I presented the car on numerous occasions for this problem and along with a very heated conversation with my SA, it was goodwilled. ($1700 for shock and about 5 hours labor)

IIRC you have an extended warranty. They will most likely consider the shock a wear item. But you never know, maybe they will cover it for you.

Best of luck.

My neighbor has the same problem with their Mercedes, I'm doubtful that it the exact same issue but the dead battery sounds familiar-

Airmatic sticking relay:
The relay which turns the airmatic suspension pump on may fail causing the pump to run continuously. This can result in failure of the pump motor or a dead battery as the pump motor will continue to run after the car is turned off. Also, Worn airmatic pump mount bushings can causes noises in the front axle while driving on bumpy roads or a buzzing noise while the pump is running.

Again, two different setups, but I hope this helps...

By the way, CPO does cover the air springs. Its specifically stated in the CPO guidelines that mechanical springs aren't covered, but pneumatic springs are.

Yes, it does, if you've purchased a CPO car since 1/1/2014.

They were covered before that. They did release a new set of guidelines, but I've got the old guidelines too. They've always been covered far as I know

well this is one where an aftermarket warranty didn't work out too well for me, continental excludes shocks from it's list of covered parts. So this is on me. They had to order the strut, car going in Monday to replace it. The strut is over 2 grand itself, This is going to hurt.

If they don't want to match the price, then order yourself and pay them labor.

Tell them to send it back or match the price. The quote I gave you is from The Bmw Store in Cincinnati, Ohio (a Bmw dealer). TheBmwpartsstore.com is their parts department. Can't hurt to ask.

the dealer dropped the price of the strut to $1730 with my CCA discount, installation took it back over 2 grand, but now I am wondering if this strut problem could have been caused by the accident my wife had with the car. this is the wheel that got hit.
