Question 2010 335iC Manu. buy back. Go or no go?

I am looking at a 2010 335i convertible with less than 30K miles on it. It was a manufacturers buy back in CA back in 2012 related to the high pressure fuel pump issues. It has been at dealers in AL and GA since then. They problem has been fixed. The dealer let me have the car over a weekend and it is in great shape. My question is this: How much should that blemish on the title reduce the sales price of that vehicle?

wow that's along time in the sales channel since 2012 .... maybe more wrong than meets the eye?

The HPFP is certainly fixable and has the extended warranty ....... can you get an extended warranty on the rest of the car?

Sitting around dealer lots for a year or two has not been good for this car.

Salvage title is often 25% off comp prices......this is (pure guess) more like 10 to 15% off

As far as I can see, there are no other issues than the asking price being too high. It will come with a warranty plan that is better than the CPO warranty from BMW. I agree that it can't be good for it to sit in a lot, but it appears to be fine. I think you are right about the 10-15% hit for the buyback.

I have a problem with buying any car that was so bad that the manufacturer agreed to (or was forced to) buy it back.

yeah but we know the HPFP was frustrating when it was happening and has now been solved plus the specific warranty on that pump

The rules in CA supposedly make it easier to return the car than in other states. I know this car was a lease in Southern CA and got bought back by the same dealer. In any case, the price will have to be 15% lower than a CPO with the buyback for me to consider. There will be a lot of 2011's coming back on lease returns shortly. The introduction of the 435iC will probably also knock the price of CPO 335iC's down a little.
