DIY seat foam replacement

Have the seat apart, if you ever wondered what the drivers side massage worked, it's two bladders of fluid.

I'm really impressed. Is it difficult to get the leather off the cushion so you can get at all this?

It's a little difficult, TIS will show you exactly what to do. The toughest part is removing the hog rings under the cover around the occupant mat, so that you don't damage it. other than that it's not so bad. I bought the seat foam about 3 years ago and am finally getting around to this, the foam was around $170 if I recall.

You do have to remove the seat from the car and it's quite heavy, something to keep in mind.

I am looking forward to do this because my sport package seats are really harsh and not comfortable as Lexus LS460 at all.

Better photo with the seams aligned. Yes, used the same leather, no need to replace it. Reused the occupant mat as well. A little bit of handiwork and some hogring pliers, and it's not to bad of a job.

No covers replaced, just the lower foam. My car is very clean, the leather is in incredible shape.

Very nice, you can have an upholstery shop replace sections of damaged leather or "redye" it to make it new again.

Drew Estate is very nice, I'm partial to the Acid Line over the Java's they have.

nice! I've done this on a different car. in case anyone is wondering, hog-ring pliers and hog-rings are usually available at your hardware store. Hog rings come in various sizes, like pig, shoat, boar and such, like that. I have even found them in big city hardware stores.

also, for people asking about doing this, you should all look up leather car upholstery replacement on Youtube. there's hog rings, listing wires, springs. all sorts of stuff that is arcane to upholstery. its pretty simple, but hooking up upholstery is a discipline all to itself.

Acids are the best! hooked on the toast and earthiness.

for anyone curious, the new foam really makes a difference. I was looking forward to the new bolsters but didn't expect how much more comfy and firm the seat would be overall. A nice upgrade you can do in just a few hours in your garage.
