7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

Lamp Module Malfunction?

On my way on a 700 mile trip and my lights malfunctioned. I turn off the car and the halo lights and back brake lights stay on. I tried turning the lamp knob to all four settings and it did not have any effect. The lights remain on. I cant get car checked until Wednesday and hope someone on this great forum can give me some help. The advice I got from the dealer until my appointment was to temporarily disconnect the battery to avoid having the battery drained over night. Can someone offer some possible advice? Thanks!

When LM fails there I think there is a failsafe to turn on these lights and allow you to get to safety. Do they stay on even if you lock the car? There is a switch above the battery that puts the car in storage mode -- maybe that will allow the car to go to sleep and turn off the lights. If none of that works you may be forced to disconnect the battery.

Is it just one side, or both? There's a directional parking light feature, which can be activated/deactivated by pushing the turn signal stalk after turning the engine off.

That is possible. It its only 1 side depress and hold the signal on same side for a few seco ds and it should shut off
