Issues with the display on my M3

I have a 2011 E90 DCT, competition pack, with the LCD display in the center of the dash (with the GPS and all that stuff). It seems like almost every time I start the car the display comes up with a different screen than where it was when I shut it off. I almost always have the GPS map displayed, and sometimes when I start up the map comes back up. But just as likely I will get the main menu or some other screen when I restart. Is there something I need to do to save the settings to get the display to always start up in the same screen?

Hm. Short answer: No?

My 09 comes up on the 'acknowledge' screen every time, then reverts to map.

I *think* my '11 E90 M3 DCT does the same thing. Related to how long it's been off? Like a quick stop doesn't require the warning screen/start over?

I haven't driven it since about Thanksgiving so I can't say for sure... stinkin' Ohio weather!

Yeah within a certain amount of time it'll remember what you were doing(even leave the heated seats on the right stage).

GPS Display

My 2011 M3 does the same.

When I start the car at home, the last "Start-UP" location is displayed.

And the reverse happens when I start the car at work.

I rarely get the Acknowledge screen.

Maybe a reboot of some sort is required.

Anyone know how? Other than disconnecting the battery!

Thanks.

It varies... and the answer to your question is "no".

All my cars with iDrive have done this, and while my current 08 M3 isn't nearly as annoying as my 545i was, it's still up there in the frequency of doing this. I think it depends on whether the iDrive computer went into a sleep/hibernate state or shut off completely... and I'm not even sure why it would matter. If it goes to a sleep/hibernate it tends to return to the same screen if you let the "Accept" screen just timeout. If you click "Accept" I tend to find it goes to a different screen than I had left, usually one level up in the menu.

If the unit shuts down completely (you'll notice it take longer to boot) then typically I find it goes all the way to the main menu regardless of whether you click "Accept" or not.
