F22 / F23 2 Series (2014 - Current)
The 2 Series coupe is the replacement for the E82/E88 1 series coupe. Production starts in November 2013 on the 228i (N20) and M235i (N55) coupes. Look for them in dealerships in February 2014. The convertible F23 2 series will follow in the fall of 2014.

235M Overboost

Any info about the 235M motor and possible overboost feature that the 335is had? I've looked and I can't find anything. Also does anyone else find it odd that they are not offering the DCT tranny on the 235M? N4S

The 335is was N54 powered if I remember correctly. I don't believe the N55 comes with overboost on any platform. No DCT doesn't surprise me, they'll probably offer it later. Maybe at LCI?

Ah, that is right. I had forgotten that the 335is used the N54. N4S

I really love my DCT. Its shift speed is fantastic, but left to its own devices, it's not always the smartest. People talk of the new transmission being better, though not quite as aggressive in its shift speed. I think I could possibly forgive a slower shift speed if it can really downshift like what was written about it and can do a better job if being in the right gear. But I will miss the shifts that seemingly never pause the momentum of the vehicle.

Tim, sure its a dumb question but what is the difference between the DCT vs the transmission in the M235i? Can you point me to a link that explains the difference

In the simplest terms the DCT is a dual clutch transmission. There are two "manual"-ish clutches that are computer controlled. If you're in 1st gear using clutch 1, clutch 2 is already in 2nd gear. When you tell the computer to shift it disengages clutch 1 while engaging clutch 2 making it more or less seamless. The 8 speed in the M235i is a standard automatic with a torque converter acting as the engine/transmission interface instead of a clutch.
