Lousy Sound System

Technic,
Am a new Bimmerfest member after buying my first BMW last month (E92 - manufactured 4/10 with base stereo). Like so many others, I'm incredibly disappointed with the sound system. Have spent a couple of hours reading posts related to upgrade options...many of them, yours. Thank you for the time you've spent helping the BMW community with your expertise.

Was wondering a few things:
1) What is your opinion of the (now) BAVSOUND Stage One speaker upgrade kit? Are there others that you would more highly recommend?
2) I saw a post from you (from 2010, I believe) offering to do the "complete" upgrade (amp, Cleansweep, speakers, etc) for a Bimmerfest member if he could get his car to you in FLL. Is that offer still valid?
3) If your opinion of the Stage One speakers is favorable, would there be any incompatibilities if I wanted to install only the speakers now and install the amp/Cleansweep later?

Thanks again.

For stereo help go here

start by reading this

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323

MusicarNw has complete kits tailored to your tastes that address all
the weak points but they are not cheap.

1) any speaker upgrade on the base system is not enough to get you very far
as the head unit power it runs off of is just not enough.
2)have no idea
3)BSW has said you can add a 50 watt rms per channel amp to them but there
base speaker kit does not have a crossover. There are many more choices.
But the Head Unit power is an issue plus the way its wired in with underseats.
Also if you buy something with a tweeter it will sound bad because the treble is overboosted
in the stock system to compensate for the lack of tweeters.
Best to do it all at once if you can.

If you are near Fort Lauderdale I would look up Technic he may be able to do your
car . (Technic the maker of the Technic BMW specific Harness for BMW stereos)

I doubt that a PF exhaust can compare to full afterburners in a Hornet.

Thanks ctuna...and you're exactly right. No amount of exhaust tuning can match the deafening...but very satisfying...roar of a Hornet in a/b.

Hadn't thought about the effect of a 'non-equalized' signal going to tweeters. Thanks for that input.

Coming to the conclusion that a Cleansweep plus a 5 channel amp with good speakers is the way to go. Spoke with Ken at Musicarnw. $$$.

You can piece the stuff together yourself .

You can piece the stuff together yourself.
Its more time and effort but doable.
Technic is a master at suggesting low cost yet
great systems if you can get a hold of him.

I don't know if he has a shop but he sometimes publishes
systems he has done for people on the e90post stereo sub board
Since he is in Fort Lauderdale I would try to get a hold of him and see
what he says. You should be able to PM him on this or the other board.
You need 5 posts on e90post to do it I would try it from here first.
If your upgrading the under seats (and you should because they give a lot of midrange) I think its preferable to keep those in stereo hence the use of the 6 channel JL 600/6 as the amp of choice.
PM is a direct email to another member I sent you one.
