"Key In Ignition" warning even when key removed

Hi all, new owner of a 1995 E34 here with a few issues. Like the title states, I get the Key In Ignition warning even though the key is removed. Is this simply a bad lock cylinder? I suspect the key is worn out as well due to the occasional sticking and inability to turn the key. I have tried spraying dry film silicone into the tumbler to no avail.

If I order a new lock cylinder, will it come as a duplicate key set, or will I have to have it re-keyed to match the door and trunk locks?

I would try a new CCM (check control module) first. Sometimes they will display random errors and then it's time to replace. You could also check the resistors inside your existing CCM- there is a PDF DIY out there somewhere, possibly on Shoguns website.

Mine does this sometimes. Jerk the wheel back and forth until it locks, if that does not help put the key in and pull it out a few times while trying this.
Spray some WD-40 in it then get some graphite grease to free it all up.
Parts get dry/worn and do not move as they should.

Gotta love an E34!!
If you want to get junkyard parts remember one thing, if it was wrecked you know it was running/driving. You may not know how well, but it was.
