Welcome to Bimmerfest.com. I've moved your thread to the E90 3 series forum. The car your looking at has a chassis code E90 for reference. Other Bimmerfest.com members with E90 3 series experience will be able to give you feedback on that 2006 323i.

Good luck,
Tim

Short answer : it's a reliable car at a cost

if you compare this to a Honda Accord : No 06 323i (esp. 06/07 E90) not a reliable car

If you compare this to a VW Passat same year : yes, it is more Reliable than a Passat

if you want a reliable E90, buy LCI model (late 09 onwards)

Then you'll be asking for the maintenance history - service receipts & dealer record - as well as collision history. You'll be taking it to a reputable Indy for a Pre Purchase Inspection as well as test driving it yourself.

As a start.

Some issues to consider

The spark coils go bad about every five years, mileage does not matter (had one with only 45K on it and five years had to replace the coils) This can be done at an Indy. Many of the non turbo engines had issues with valve cover bolts breaking and oil leaks. Again a competent Indy can do this. Turbos had many issues with the fuel pumps, make sure yours was replaced under warranty if applicable. This is a dealer issue.
