why did my side marker lights flash while washing the car?

Hey guys I'm new to bmw. I have an 08 328i that I just bought a few weeks ago. today i was at the car wash giving it a bath and I noticed that the side marker lights on the front fenders would flash from time to time when the water hit the car. What was happening? everything seems fine.

You sure the FOB wasn't in your pocket with something else?

possibly yea. I wonder if it could have something to do with the comfort access?

I have found that water from washing the car can sometimes trip comfort access if the key is in your pocket.

It's obvious you weren't washing the car to German standards. The car was trying to tell you something. Were you using the 2 bucket method? If you ignore the flashing marker lights you will find your car missing one day since it would have fled back to Germany. Watch out.

I've had my windows open on me because my fob was in my pocket while drying off my car. The lights are most likely caused by the CA key in your pocket.

I'm going with this answer. It happens to me all the time when a stream of water or my hand hits near the door handle.

Same thing happens on my Ford Edge. When the water sponge hits the door handles the car unlocks itself.

I had the same thing happening last week. The water does the same thing as touching the handle with your hand. So if its on the inside of the handle it will unlock, if its on the top it will lock.

+1. I always make sure to put the fob on the workbench (at least 30 feet away) or I leave it on me and this happens all the time. N4S

At first glance I thought you had a pic of my car with my winter tire and wheel setup.
