How reliable is the 2008 and 2009 BMW 335xi?

Sup guys, I need some advice. I am planning to purchase a used BMW 335xi; I read the 2007 was unreliable. What type of issues did you experience with the 08 and 09 model? Also, is there any transmission/jerky shifting on the auto transmission?

Sorry, this may sound like a real dumb question, but what type of transmission does the BMW 335xi uses? Is it DCT?

I am new to BMW, and I want to make sure if I buy a used BMW 08 or 09 with about 75K mileages, it would be still worth it.

Thanks everyone.

A purchase so far based on emotion. With that as your guide, very unreliable.

OTOH, you could read here & elsewhere as you prepare for an educated buy - that's what I recommend.

FWIW, thin frame o'reference, 2009+ preferred.

Look up Consumer Report's historical annual reliability chart - probably available at your bookstore right in the magazine section. They actually collect their data independently, so it is a useful measuring stick.

Thanks.

I was hoping to get some feedback from the forum.

I love the power in the bimmer, but I a little weary about getting a used one.

hmm im pretty new to bimmer also i just got my 09 355xi last year june. so far no problem but i did all my homework i got pre purchase inspection made sure the car was up to date with maintenance. car fax im sure you already know that..

fuel pump they said thats the common problems with 335 but i think bmw extended the warranty on that.

but buying a used car there's always a risk..

i just try to stay on top everything..

good luck!

So, I went with Emotion and bought a 335Xi with 46K miles for 19G.

I brought the car to a BMW dealership and had them inspect everything (cost 149), they identified it needed new gasket and hose. They also informed me that is a very common problem with BMW at the 50K mark.

Thanks for all your help, if there is any issue or special maintenance that I should be aware of, please feel free to share.
