E90 vs E46 rear legroom for car seats?

The specs are the same for E90 vs E46 rear legroom, both 34.6".

Has anyone moved from E46 to E90 and found the rear has more room, despite the specs?

I'm about to need to put a 2nd car seat in my E46, and since i'm 6'3", there's only like 2 inches of legroom when the forward-facing Recaro is put behind the driver's seat. (a rear facing seat has to go behind the passenger seat).

I have an e46 (2001 325i sedan) and 2 e90 sedans in my household. The e90 has more legroom, but not a lot. What it seems to have much more of is foot room. Unfortunately that doesn't help you with the car seats.

Thanks. someone said the seats are deeper in the back. That would help a lot with carseats if true. I suppose i could take my seat to the dealer, or just a tap measure.

I used to have an E46, and just got an E90 two months ago. Yesterday I had the need of installing the same booster seat in my E90 as I had used in the E46, to transport a grandchild. The seat backs in the E90 are more 'sculpted' vs. the flatter back in the E46. OTOH, I had the split back and ski option in the E46, but fixed back in the E90, so I don't know if that had something to do with the flatter profile of the E46 backs.

A tape measure is absolutely the only way of knowing with certainty and lack of ambiguity!

I have both an E90 and an E46 sedan. I am about 6'4" tall, so I drive with the seat ALL the way back. IMO, the E90 has SLIGHTLY more rear legroom, but there is not a lot of difference.

In comparison, our X3 almost seems generous in the back seat.

That sucks, I think I need 2 more inches for my son to sit comfortably behind me. That means F30 or some other brand. I'd kinda had my heart set on a 2011 328i M Sport.
