F22 / F23 2 Series (2014 - Current)
The 2 Series coupe is the replacement for the E82/E88 1 series coupe. Production starts in November 2013 on the 228i (N20) and M235i (N55) coupes. Look for them in dealerships in February 2014. The convertible F23 2 series will follow in the fall of 2014.

Mein Auto: BMW 228i on Order
Took Delivery of 228i on 2/28/14

I got my 228i yesterday. Premium and Technology packages, Driver Assist, PDC, Harmon Karden, Heated Seats, etc. My initial impressions are very positive. I'm not an enthusiast Driver as I'm almost 70 years old but still like nice cars. The small size of the 2 Series is perfect for me and it has much better visibility than my Honda Coupe did. This is my 3rd BMW. I had a 1999 328 convertible and a 2004 325 Coupe - the later felt like a led sled compared to the 228i.

Personally, I will have a kind of steep learning curve with the iDrive and NAV, etc. but once I figure it all out I feel I will be fine. The car is loaded with all kinds of high tech stuff!!!!! What's really important irrespective of age is NOT to be fooling with the iDrive Controller when your driving.

I'm extremely happy with the car and it drives smooth as silk in comfort mode and I can't feel the automatic trans shift at all driving around town. Compared with the 1 series I drove some months ago - the 2 Series feels smooth as silk.

More as I progress with this great new car!!!!!!!

Initial Driving Impressions 228i

Took delivery on 2/28/14 an I'm really enjoying the car. Took it on a very short road trip (about 60 miles each way) and it feels really good on the road and around town. This isn't a complaint but the steering feels VERY light compared to other BMW's I have had - I guess this is because of the Electric Steering. I have not yet driven it in Sport Mode - only comfort mode.

Does anyone know if its OK to wax a new BMW right off the lot. Mine completed production about January 4th. Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a wax for a light silver grey BMW?

I have been using Meguiar's Ultimate which is a synthetic polymer on my previous car. Does anyone have other recommendations - or how about products BMW sells.

One other thing, I tried to post PIC's of the 228i from my hard drive but I guess the system requires they be loaded to a Web Site before being uploaded here. Maybe I'm missing something on that.

Thanks for any recommendations on the waxing.

How do you like the 4cyl vs. the 6 in your E46? I just love the perfect balance of the inline 6; not sure I'll like the 4 as well though it clearly has much more power.

The 4 Cylinder with the Turbo seems very responsive and ready to run!!!!! Obviously, I'm driving it very carefully with just over 200 miles on it. One time when merging on a local expressway there seemed to be a momentary hesitation but it may have been imagined rather that real. The 4 cylinder with the 8 speed automatic is smooth as silk in comfort mode. I really can't feel it shift. I haven't used Sport Mode yet. For sure, the steering feels VERY light and I assume this is because of the electric steering. Wonder if it will tighten-up in Sport Mode. One other observation - I think the EPA fuel ratings may be attainable driving it very easy - but I need more data on it to really say. I haven't used ECO Mode except just a little - what I don't like is I'm not sure if Auto/Stop/Start (I personally think it puts wear and tear on the engine, etc.) can be disabled in ECO Mode????? - in Comfort Mode it can be and it stays disabled even on restart.
