2016 5 Series

SO I want to order a new 5 Series just about this time next year and pick it up at the Welt on the first week of July 2015.
Anyone know if its the same exact car as now or will it be new body style already??

MB, Audi and BMW will release new cars in this segment in the first months of 2016.
So the F10 you pick up in 2015 will be quite the same as todays cars.

That stinks I thought it was the new body style this means I might have to wait a year after I return my current lease to get a new one.

The next bodystyle will come out, at the earliest, as a 2017 model year, which means they won't be on dealer lots until the summer or fall of 2016.

AKA, the 2016 5 Series that will hit dealer lots in a year and a half from today will also be the F10.

I think you guys are getting your hopes up with the CF. From what I hear, the 7 will get extensive CF, the 5 probably not much if any at all.

As usual the new generation (G30) body style will have teething problem when first launch just like the other old series when first launch ... F10, E60, E39 .. etc .. no exception. Then the G30 LCI will launch to address all complains, short fall bra bra bra .. So its up to you to choose the new body style "G30" with the risk of minor problem here and there or the almost perfect F10 LCI now.

Good point. Just like all the 5's before it, the last few years of F10 will arguably be better than at least the first year of G30 (if not the first and second year). The first and second year F10's were really unfinished in many technological and packaging ways it seems.

this. Key words - at the earliest. Traditionally BMW runs seven year production cycles, so unless they reduce the current production cycle by one year the next 5er will come sometime between spring and fall of 2017 as a 2018 model.

The F10 5er came to the market in March 2010 as a 2011 model.

BMW's next-generation 5 Series-factory code G30-will show up in just over two years, the summer of 2016, according to Car Magazine. The sixth iteration of BMW's iconic mid-level sedan will include a range from gas-sipping three-liter models all the way up to a 600-horsepower M5. Also in the mix will be Touring wagons and a Gran Tourismo. Look for both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive versions.

Emphasis will be on commonality of chassis-and on losing weight. High-strength steel, aluminum, and carbon-fiber will help the new 5 Series drop up to 175 pounds, while the M5 might weigh in almost 400 pounds lighter than the current version

Engine choices might include three-, four-, and six-cylinder engines, some fueled by diesel and some by gasoline. Hybrid versions will continue to be offered. BMW is serious about raising its corporate average fuel efficiency. Of course, some of the 5 Series variants will not be marketed in the U.S. and it will be interesting to see, in a couple of years, which models BMW think might be attractive to American buyers.

Some of the automatic driving features that BMW previewed at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this month might find their way into the next-generation 5 Series. By that time, production Park Assist may be able to find your parking spot and completely take over your car to a successful parallel parking completion. Automatic lane changing and overtaking may be another possibility.

A lot can happen between now and 2016, but if BMW's sneak peaks at the 2014 CES and Car Magazine's sources are accurate, the nextgen 5 Series will be technological marvels. Let's hope BMW keeps them true to what made them great and that they continue to be known more for their performance, handling, braking, and comfort than they are for their gadgets.-Scott Blazey

I have had three first years 5 series in a row, now this proves nothing, but I have had zero first years problems. The new car is really new and stands out and really has got the development leap over the predecessor. Of course the LCI is a better car than the original, but, compaired to the new car the development step is small. The last years cars, allthough rather cheap and filled up with all the nice stuff, the moment the new car hits the street, it is the former, old model. And for me it is not worth it anymore.... So I do not fear the first years cars and am looking forward to the summer of 2016.

I know you've posted a fair amount of "inside" information recently, but I have never seen BMW announce EOP or SOP information more than two years ahead of the fact.

At this time, I'm not offering any guarantees either. The correct way to see it, is to accept it as the current plans of BMW management. Of course, the dates could shift if, for example, the replacement model has issues requiring extra development. But BMW does make plans that far ahead.

So why don't you just re lease the car for another 12 months CPO?

More news on the next Gen 5 series.
Weight savings of 200lbs, new platform, new 3 and 4 cylinder engine versions and a new straight inline six.

terrible render.
BMW is going more stylistic, not chevy square.

Im a bit confused, is BMW platform hopping?

E60-F10-G30

Is the G a new modular platform similar to what Audi, Volvo are doing?

The engines are probably a derivation of the new B-series

Folks BMW is now going to fully test cars to make sure or limit problems before they hit consumers. Now I need to find myself a 2011/12 f10 m sport to drive until g30 comes out. I will be buying it the first year. Fully loaded ***55357;***56857;

The next Gen 5 series looks almost the same as the current 5 series
(the body line and contour), except the Headlight in which it looks very close to current 3 series.
