Do you name your BMW?

This may sound crazy but ive named both my BMW's. A buddy of mine a few years ago started it. He had a Subaru named "Sabrina"; he claimed car names had to start with the first letter of the make and more or less fit the car. He named my E60 "Belinda" and it stuck.

My E60 "Belinda"

My F30 "Broomhilda" (yes from django lol)

The loaner F30 i got for over a month waiting on mine was "Brigette".

What was it Top Gear says about naming cars?

It's funny though, my son's girlfriend (at this rate daughter-in-law) used to drive this very beat up Honda civic she called Guillermo because the car was a salvage that was fixed up in Mexico apparently....

Personally though I have never had an urge to name my cars, other than calling them 4 letter words when they don't work

It's funny though, for me at least, it started as a joke but it has stuck to the point my wife and I dont say "we taking your's or mine"? it's "Belinda or Broomhilda", even out 7 yearl old calls them by name. I never thought of naming car either... its cray once you think of a name for it it sticks...

Naming inanimate objects never occurs to me. Whenever I encounter someone that has named their car, gun, knife, baseball/softball bat, golf club, etc it always strikes me as odd.

+ 1/2 - I did not name my last car of 15 years but have named both my motorcycles. I haven't thought about naming my BMW but maybe after the upcoming long road trip.

I never thought about it, but after reading this thread, I'm going to have to name my guns and cars. My dog was adopted and alreadh had a name.
Still, my ultimate goal is cross breed a BULLdog and ****zu.

Best name combo I had going was Hans and Franz, our first 3- and X- BMW's ("we're here to pump you up!"). My 335i is Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, aka "The Chancellor" or "Otto".

Anyway, we always go with a male German name. I wouldn't bother if I was single, but it's a fun inside-joke family thing. And it just sounds less pretentious and more entertaining to say, "Let's take The Chancellor" vs "Let's go in the 335".

Not the car, but the navigation system. Helga - seems like an appropriate name for a pushy German woman. No offense intended to any Helgas in the community.

The nav in the F11 is called Annie, she does not know her way around in Paris good enough to get you ever out of town. The E46 vert is called kapje, wich stands for the cabriolet roof.

We named our our two cars for convenience since both of us drive both, e.g., I'm taking Blue today.

Melbourne Red f30 is simply "Red" and the blue (forgot the official color name) e46 ragtop is "Blue".

However, having said that, my wife sees big fat tears rolling out of the headlights of a car being sold, somewhat akin to selling the family dog.
