Angry Does anybody NOT have the fuel injector problem on a 2011 550i?

I'm ready to cancel my order after reading all these fuel injector issues and buy a Toyota....I was wondering if there are people who have a 2011 550i (mine is xDrive MSport) who have not had these issues (or any others) and have just simply enjoyed the Ultimate Driving Machine as it should be? If so, what do you do to keep it smooth?

Hello. Mr. Right foot, meet the gas pedal. Gas pedal, meet Mr. Right Foot. Mr. Gas Pedal - you're, the right foot and the floor boards are about to get real cozy.

In all seriousness. I've got a '13 and I hope these issues were sorted out before then.

I had an issue with my 2011 (~20k miles), but not 2013 (12k and running). Same engine...

I posted in a different thread that I just had all 8 replaced after complaining about some engine issues (28k miles). It wasn't a huge deal in my opinion, other than finally switching SAs to one that can get things done. Now my car drives exactly like how I got it in Munich back in 2011, I'm happy.

Just bought an 11 with 35k. Didn't see anything in the service records regarding plugs or injectors (I looked) and no issues in my first few hundred miles. Hopefully it stays that way.

Thanks for the input. I guess all I can do is wait for mine to come in and talk to my local BMW dealer to see if they can do a check even if I don't have the CEL light on. I'll keep an eye on the idle as well and hopefully catch it early. I guess it's not that bad even if all 8 get replaced and after that I will just use some of that Redline SI-1 every now and then and change the oil every 5K in order to minimize the possibility of future problems with the injectors.

Thanks again

What a feeling that must have been to be able to go to Munich and buy a BMW..

Thanks for the response...if it happens, hopefully one trip to the dealer will fix this specific issue (i'll also request that intake cleaning)

Just be persistent. I noticed some issues when idling and when I started the car. They initially claimed everything checked out, but I knew something was wrong. My battery began to fail and my CEL came on as well. I switched SAs and he ended up replacing everything, so all is well. You will absolutely love this car, good choice.

Yeah, doing ED was awesome!

What is the reliability of the Japanese direct fuel injection systems vs the BMW?

Over the past six years I have been a regular for a couple of years at a time on both the Lexus GS and Cadillac CTS forum and never saw a post about a problem. But I see posts here quite frequently.

So we shouldn't expect our engines to perform well after 3 years / 30k miles, even if we do all we can to maintain them (oil changes, etc.)!?

Ridiculous, and shameful. :|

Thanks! Did you do the intake cleaning when they replaced the 8 injectors?

Kind of what I said lol but after paying so much money for the Ultimate Driving Machine....kind of expect this thing to start breaking down closer to 100K miles and not under 30 either way...we gotta take care of these cars early which is fine with me...like my mechanic said, take care of the little stuff so you won't have to bother with the big stuff. I've talked to a few ppl who have not had any issues at all even past 35K which is good and the only thing that I've read is the whole injectors issue but otherwise this seems like a really good engine/car.

Thanks for your input!

I'm not sure...but some friends keep bragging that their Acura's or Toyota's have over 100K miles and have never been in the shop for anything but oil changes and other regular maintenance issues. Either way...I won't be cancelling the order...I guess I was just jumping a little ahead of myself and should probably wait till the car gets here and see if I even have any issues. I don't mind paying to get it all cleaned every so often but would like to drive my car more often than having to drive the loaner all the time.
