F22 / F23 2 Series (2014 - Current)
The 2 Series coupe is the replacement for the E82/E88 1 series coupe. Production starts in November 2013 on the 228i (N20) and M235i (N55) coupes. Look for them in dealerships in February 2014. The convertible F23 2 series will follow in the fall of 2014.

The US is going to have to wait for the Active Tourer.

”active”

BMW's 2 Series Active Tourer will be coming to the US, however, don't hold your breath, it may take a while. BMW is waiting at least 15 months before releasing the Active Tourer in the US.

The 2 series Active Tourer will be the first front wheel drive vehicle to sport the BMW badge. It's a five-door wagon that utilizes the new Mini Cooper UKL platform. Dimensions for the Active toure are 171 inches long, 5.5 inches shorter than the X1, and the wheelbase at 105 inches, is 3.6 inches shorter. The Active Tourer will be available with three and four cylinder engine options, but the stand out is BMW's efficient new 1.5 liter 3 cylinder that puts out 136 horsepower. There will also be an all-wheel drive option available.

This delay is much like the delay of the X1, when its release was held off for three years in the US. Size was the big worry then, since in the US, buyers want lots of space, and it's the same now. BMW feels the Active Tourer is better suited to the European market, and demand will be low in the US. However, the X1 has done extremely well, and now BMW is hoping to get the timing right again, with the 2 Series Active Tourer release.

At the price it's likely to be (mid $30k), don't see myself buying it. Rather have a GTI or Golf R.

Why release it at all? It looks like a X1 and a minivan had a deformed child. Thats not even covering that FWD on a BMW is just wrong.

Most BMW customers don't know the cars are rear-drive based. So why bother making them rear drive? Put AWD on this car and the customer will be happy.

M Sport official pics. Looking at that interior, I'm thinking this car will be expensive, like $5k over the cost of a Mini. I don't see them selling a lot of these at $35-40k.

Thank god, we don't want a FWD BMW. Bring on the 2 series GC.
