Delivery delay - X5 "stuck" in Spartanburg

My vehicle finished production March 8th but it has not been loaded on to the train for shipping to the Oxnard, CA VPC. It has been sitting in the Spartanburg VPC warehouse for 2 weeks. My client advisor is unable to explain why, but said it should get "unstuck and be on it's way next week".

Have any West Coast folks who ordered their vehicles experienced a similar situation?

Angry stuck in SC

My vehicle (to be delivered to South Florida) is in the same situation. Phone system says 'vehicle production complete, waiting for release to carrier' for over 2 weeks now. Frustrating.

Yes, our F15 finished production on just about the same date, but I'm still not sure where it is. BMW told me that it was released to Southern Pacific on 3/9, but my dealer does not have a delivery date yet so I'm wondering if my car is still there too.........

I'm in the Bay Area, so I'll be our cars end up on the same transports for the trip here....whenever that will be.

I'm waiting for an update from my CA on Monday.

Mine has been sitting there for three days waiting to be delivered to Minnesota. I have no idea how BMW decides when to ship. My dealer still thinks mine will be here within the week but they do a pretty high volume.

I just heard back from my CA. Our car shipped out on Southern Pacific yesterday after sitting since 3/9. Could take up to three weeks to arrive in Oxnard then a week up to the Bay Area.

Can't complain, could be a lot slower for an overseas order.

my x5 seems like it might be on train or whatever to get here.. my dealer thought it would be here sooner but then pushed it back till the end of the month hopefully. but i might just wait till the beginning of april to see if there are any incentives since march has nothing to my knowledge.

My car was finish on March 3rd and it didnt get deliver/handed to carrier until March 18th or 20th...which ever is right...I am lost here as well. one customer service told me it was loaded on the 18th....to the carrier/train then I called again on the 19th and they told me it has not yet pass port of exit..... I have been talking to my dealer...which told me the car will be arriving this sunday....to the dealer and wont be ready for me to pick it up until 23rd...but then it got delay again to the 24th for arrival to the dealer....it has been quite a roller coaster.

I'd be interested to hear the progress on your car. I'm not sure if Washington cars route through Oxnard, but we may also be sharing that train. Seems like a lot of West coast cars were sitting waiting for shipment for the past two or three weeks.

When did your car finish production? Seems like late Feb and early Mar cars have just been sitting waiting for a train for the past couple of weeks.

Hopefully we will get some new incentives to blunt the long wait!

Asked the sales guy to drive to SC and get it. He laughed, so I guess that means no.

I got an update today from BMW, so this probably applies to the other West Coast cars that finished production recently. My car finally left on a SP train on 3/21 heading for Oxnard. The trip is supposed to take 15 days so they expect it there around 4/5. Then probably a week for the trip to the Bay Area.

Asked about why the car sat from 3/9 until 3/21, they said that they were having the railroad employee appreciation day last week, so they wanted plenty of cars to drive for the autocross........ ; )

Thanks for sharing your update. If that is the case then my dealer may be lying to me....my car was shipped on the 18th(confirmed by the customer service at the 1800 number and the dealer)...and he mentioned to me it should have been at the dealer on the 23rd....he added that there might be some delay...because it didn't arrive on the 23rd....if it is going to take 15 days... to your location mine probably will take longer to WA....as most ship would dock in CA first.

I gather the BMW phone number is useless once the X is sent to transport? Only the dealer knows when it loaded on a truck or train?

Mine has been "stuck" all week also waiting for a truck to Texas. Looks like the problem is broader than just the availability of trains. Perhaps someone need to educate BMW on the time value of money ...

Wondered that same thing about BMW being fine with all that inventory sitting there. I'm sure it is just part of the car business and they expect a shipping backlog, especially when the X5 is in demand and they are cranking them out.

OK, I got an update today. My car left SC on a train on 3/21 and they told me it was not supposed to arrive at the Oxnard VPC until 4/5. Well, today they gave me the good news that the car left Oxnard yesterday on a truck heading for the Bay Area. ETA Monday at the latest. Hopefully some of the other cars on this thread will move as quickly. Good luck!
