'Bubble' on manual shifter faceplate

Greetings all,

I just bought a 2011 BMW 328i (Premium, + Executive + Sports package) from BMW Gallery here in Calgary. LOVE THIS CAR!!

Anyhow, there is a small 'bubble' on the faceplate of the Manual shift knob (by faceplate, I mean the sticker that shows the gear layouts; R, 1, 2, 3, 4,5, 6)

It's hard to see from the attached picture, but on the right side of the faceplate, there is a small bubble. I'm a very meticulous person, so is there a way to get rid of this bubble. I was thinking of buying/renting a heat gun from home depot and seeing if I can gently massage it out?

Any ideas?

Derek

Heat and plastic are not a good combination. If you are going to apply heat, why don't you try your wife/girlfriend hair dryer. The hair dryer should be more gentle than a heat gun. If you ruin it, you can always buy a new knob.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

The clear material is a vinyl cover.

Buy a new one and replace it, not too difficult to do, if you can't stand the bubble. N4S

Dumb question, but its not a protective plastic that was supposed to be removed is it?

My iPad retina display is so much better after removing the factory plastic film
